A Burnet Police Department officer is recovering after being injured in a dog attack. She had been responding to a call of a citizen being attacked by three dogs when she was attacked herself.

The attack happened on June 14th at around 11:40 a.m. in the 700 block of South Vanderveer.

Burnet Patrol Corporal Alex Fidler arrived and met with a person who had been reportedly attacked. While looking for wounds on the person's body, the three dogs returned and attacked Cpl. Fidler.

Officials say they have looked at footage from Cpl. Fidler's body camera as well from her patrol unit. They say the video shows Cpl. Fidler trying to get away from the dogs and trying to protect the citizen and herself.

Cpl. Fidler had to shoot her weapon twice. She struck and killed one dog and struck and injured a second one. The third dog was not shot and ran away but was later located by police.

Cpl. Fidler was taken to the hospital with injuries to both her arms.

Police say they continue to investigate and will release the video footage at a later date.
