Carol Burnett to be inducted into Texas Film Hall of Fame

The Austin Film Society announces that legendary comedian Carol Burnett is to be inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame at the 2016 Texas Film Awards.

In a press release, AFS Artistic Director Richard Linklater says, “"Carol Burnett is the queen of comedy who defined the American variety show, reigned in American living rooms for many years and set the bar for any comedian who followed her. We're humbled to honor her and welcome her back to Texas."

Burnett was born in San Antonio and is best known for her work on the “Carol Burnett Show.” She’s received numerous awards including several Emmys, Golden Globes and Peabody Awards. She is also a 2005 Kennedy Center Honoree and the 2013 recipient of a top comedy honor, the Mark Twain Prize.
