Remains of what appeared to be about nine head of cattle were found on a property in Liberty Hill and 82 others were seized, according to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office.
WCSO says they received a call on July 18 regarding the neglect of livestock in the 19000 block of W SH 29. When deputies arrived they found a "boneyard" with carcasses of livestock. Deputies returned to a nearby property on July 31 and discovered seven more head of cattle that were emaciated and one cow stuck under a barbed wire fence that later died.
WCSO executed a search and seizure warrant of the property and removed 35 cows, one bull and 46 calves. Officials say all of the cattle were emaciated or on the verge of emaciation.
The livestock was transported to the Cameron Auction Barn where WCSO says they will be receiving treatment, food and water.
The investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending. A court date has been scheduled for Aug. 8, 2018.
