Church fire in Southeast Austin

Austin firefighters worked overnight to put out a church fire in Southeast Austin. It broke out just before 9 p.m. on April 17 at the Onion Creek Baptist Church on Riverside Drive off of 183.

Flames could be seen coming out of the roof and many people in the area captured video of the large flames.

The fire caused major damage to the church including a roof collapse.

Firefighters couldn't enter the building because the flames were too intense so they had to fight the fire from the outside. It took them about 45 minutes to put out the flames.

No one was inside and no one was injured.

Firefighters remained on the scene to watch for hot spots. The investigation continues into what caused the fire.
