Deadly shooting at East Austin apartment complex

One woman has died after an overnight shooting at an East Austin apartment complex.

Police were called out at around 11:45 p.m. to the 6600 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard to the Sixty 600 Apartments which were formerly known as the Travis Station Apartments. They were responding to a 9-1-1 call about someone who had been shot in the parking lot.

When officers arrived they found the victim with obvious trauma to her body and she was taken to the hospital where she died of her injuries and was pronounced dead at 12:33 a.m.

The Travis County Medical Examiner preformed an autopsy and determined the cause of death was from a gunshot wound and ruled it a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Ebony Michelle Sheppard.

Police say witnesses at the apartment complex were interviewed and advised a possible suspect wearing a dark colored hoodie was seen running from the scene and fleeing at a high rate of speed in a white sedan from the complex.

Police say that they did take a person into custody but they determined that the person was not involved with this incident.
