Del Valle school bus crash

A Del Valle school bus was involved in a crash with another vehicle in the 2300 block of Hwy 71, Eastbound.

It happened around 3 pm on Wednesday, April 20.

According to the Austin Police Department, one person was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance. The APD PIO was unable to say which driver was cited.

Celine Bley, Del Valle ISD PIO, says the bus was hit from behind. Seven high school students and the driver were on the bus heading back to the Del Valle High School.

The bus driver and one student were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

According to Bley, the bus driver had a seat belt on but there are no other seat belts on the bus.

This is a developing story and will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
