MetroRail delays due to technical issue

Cap Metro says due to a technical issue with the rail communications system there was a delay on MetroRail Friday morning. The issue was fixed around 9:50 a.m.

A Cap Metro spokesperson says the problem was with the software that allows the dispatch center to communicate with the rail signals. The issue required cap metro to keep the trains at the stations because of the safety issue of not being able to communicate with the stop arms and signals at the crossings.

The problem was intermittent and first noticed at the very end of service Thursday. The estimated delay Friday morning averaged between 45 minutes and an hour.

The issues seemed unrelated to the additional trains that started running Monday. However, in addition to the software issue, they are having scheduling issues as expected with adding new trains.
