Deputies: woman booby trapped home, weapons

- Officers spent all day removing more than 3,700 bladed weapons from a woman's home in Spring Hill Wednesday after she was arrested on outstanding warrants.

Nickcole Ellen Fay Dykema, 47, charged at a deputy with a knife and eluded officers by hiding in the home filled with weapons before she was eventually zapped with a stun gun and taken into custody Tuesday night, deputies said.

Photos released by the sheriff's department show the home was dark and filled with weapons, fake severed limbs, and fake skulls. Several Hernando County Sheriff's Office personnel were injured while removing some of the weapons because deputies believe some floors, weapons, blankets and even the yard were "booby trapped."

The sheriff said the responding deputies acted with enormous restraint in apprehending a dangerous suspect while they feared for their lives. "It amazes me that these deputies were able to take her into custody without anyone being injured. It shows the level of their restraint and professionalism under very difficult and dangerous conditions," Sheriff Al Nienhuis said.

Dykema made her first appearance in court on multiple charges including resisting arrest and assault on a law enforcement officer.

She's being held in jail without bond.
