Donald Trump to hold rally in Austin

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is coming to Austin next Tuesday. We've learned he will host a fundraiser and a rally. The rally will be at the Travis County Expo Center.

In Georgetown, Williamson County Republican Party members spent the afternoon putting together campaign signs.

"We are putting out several dozen a day. We're constantly putting together more signs. We are on our second order of bumper stickers. We had to place our third order already,” said party chair Bill Fairbrother.

Party Chair Bill Fairbrother says support for Trump is not waning here as indicated by recent polls.

When the news broke of Trump's plans to host a rally at the Travis County expo center, Fairbrother says his phone lit up.

"Lots of folks in Williamson County are calling here looking for more information getting signed up on the webpage. We expect a lively, fun crowd there,” said Fairbrother.

This will be Trump's second trip to Texas. He held rallies in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio over the summer.

Fairbrother and fellow supporter Mike McCloskey registered for tickets online.

"We're very excited he's going to be able to make it to Austin and hold the public rally here. Where are even more excited it's free to get all the grass roots folks able to attend as well,” said Fairbrother.

"I was very excited. I didn't know we were going to have an opportunity to see him in Texas. He needs to spend so much of his time in the battleground states and we fully anticipate Donald Trump is going to win in Texas,” said McCloskey.

The visit will consist of a rally at 7:30 Tuesday night at the Luedecke Arena at the expo center, then a private fundraiser later that evening.

Fairground staff told FOX 7 a security team for Trump walked the premises Friday morning. The secret service will oversee the event with support from the Austin Police Department. No details are being released on the security plan or possible travel routes. Police say to expect delays across town through the better part of the day.

As far as the event itself, Fairbrother doesn't anticipate any trouble.

"You never know, I think most central Texans are law-abiding citizens. We should expect each other's right to be heard, freedom of expression. I suspect while there may be some protesters there, I'm not expecting any of the violence we saw in Philadelphia,” said Fairbrother.
