UPDATE: Del Valle halfway house escapee arrested in East Austin

UPDATE: A man who escaped the Austin Transition Center in Del Valley early Friday was captured in East Austin.

Sergio Solis was on a computer in the Terrazas Public Library on Cesar Chavez Street when U.S. Marshals captured him.

Hector Gomez, the U.S. Marshals PIO, said a tip from the public led to Solis.

The Marshal's office sent in a couple of undercover deputies and took Solis into custody, officials said. Solis was wearing clothing that covered up his tattoos.

Sergio Solis walked away from the Austin Transition Center early this morning without authorization resulting in a federal Escape charge being filed.

Solis arrived at the ATC in mid-November of this year after serving a substantial portion of a 78 month prison sentence for Bank Robbery.  Solis was charged, convicted and sentenced in the United States District Court in Austin, TX in 2010 after he robbed the Wachovia Bank, 1201 Barbara Jordan Blvd., Austin, TX.

His present whereabouts are unknown.

Solis is 37-years-old, white or white hispanic, male,  5'07", 145 pounds, brown eyes with grey/partially grey hair.

He has a neck tattoo that reads "Loving Memory" and other tattoos on his abdomen, back and chest.

Solis also goes by the alias, George Santamaria.
