Fatal car accident on FM973 leaves one dead

An overnight car accident on FM 973 has left one person dead. 

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, deputies were called out for a vehicle collision on Saturday, September 16, 2017 around 11 pm on FM 973, about four miles north of Del Valley. 

During their investigation, deputies learned that a vehicle was traveling south on FM 973 when it began to travel off the roadway and onto the improved shoulder. The driver of the vehicle overcorrected and ended up in a lane for traffic traveling in the opposite direction. 

A second vehicle hit the first vehicle on the front right side. 

The driver of the first vehicle was ejected from his car, he was not wearing a seatbelt. 

According to DPS, 45-year-old Francisco Carmona Zamora died at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were taken to Dell Seton.
