Fatal shooting in East Austin

The Austin Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in East Austin Thursday night. 

APD responded to a shooting call just after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday. The shooting was reported in the 1800 block of Elmira Road near the corner of MLK Boulevard in East Austin.

According to police, officers arrived on scene and found a deceased black male victim with obvious trauma. Another person was taken to UMC Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries. 

Police are searching for a suspect. No description was provided at this time. 

According to people in that neighborhood that spoke to FOX 7, the person killed is believed to be in his twenties and it is possible that this was some sort of attempted break-in or robbery. None of this has been confirmed by police.
