Fire at Northwest Austin strip mall

Extra fire crews were called in to fight a fire at a strip mall in Northwest Austin. Officials say the fire started at around 8 a.m. at a copy printing business off 183 between Spicewood Springs Road and Anderson Mill Road.

Nobody was in the building when the fire broke out but crews had a difficult time finding the source of the fire.

Austin Fire Department Battalion Chief Matt Cox said, "With fires like this, it's not your normal room and contents fire, where there's a couch and a bed - that's pretty simple. There's a lot of mechanical type things, and that involves oils and fluids. That's what makes it a little more difficult to fight. Once we know that, we change our tactics a little bit and it's fine."

Cox says at least two businesses were severely burned in the fire and a couple more may have smoke damage.

Investigators say the fire was caused by an electrical issue and have ruled it an accident.
