Former teacher's aide busted during dinner with victim's family

Former McNeil High School Assistant Teacher Tyler Johnson, 20, is now being charged with 2 counts of Improper Relationship between an Educator and Student. Those are on top of the 2 Sexual Assault of a Child charges he is already facing. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office filed the charges after an investigation revealed he was having a sexual relationship with two McNeil High School Freshmen.

Court Records reveal Johnson introduced himself to one of his victim's parents as a fifteen year-old classmate of hers. During dinner at her house last week, someone who graduated with Johnson at McNeil recognized him. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says that’s when they launched their investigation. Records show Johnson had been having an improper relationship with his fifteen year-old victim for as many as four months. They also show she met him at McNeil while he was working as a teacher's aide there.

The other victim, also a Freshman, just fourteen when she first met Johnson. She too told police he engaged in sexual activity with her on several occasions.

Court records show Johnson admitted to having relationships with both students when investigators questioned him.

The Round Rock Independent School District sent a letter to parents on Wednesday, saying, “Williamson County Sheriff's Department arrested a 20-year-old Educational Assistant late in the afternoon on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, for an alleged inappropriate relationship with two students at McNeil High School. The school was first notified on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, of the alleged inappropriate relationship. The employee was immediately removed from campus and a report was made to law enforcement. The Educational Assistant is no longer employed by Round Rock ISD.”

Johnson was booked into the Williamson County Jail. As of Friday night, jail records show he has not been released. His bond combined for all four charges is $400,000. According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson has no prior record.

This is McNeil High School's second teacher arrest in a year. As Fox 7 first reported in April 2015, the school's track coach, Christopher Cotton, was arrested for having a sexual relationship with one of his students. He pleaded guilty in March and is now serving a three year sentence.
