Franklin residents assess damage as more storms possible

Residents in Franklin continue to assess damage after the city in Robertson County was hit hard by storms. It comes as more severe weather could hit the area as well parts of Central Texas.

Franklin is located about 100 miles northeast of Austin. A massive cleanup is underway as the city was hit by an EF-3 tornado over the weekend which destroyed 55 homes, two churches and a handful of businesses.

The tornado cut trhough a popular animal park which has about 800 animals. None of the animals were hurt but some shelters and fencing were damaged.

More than a dozen people suffered minor injuries.

Most of the power in the area has been restored after nearly 4,000 residents were left in the dark across the county due to the storms.

Officials say clean up could take months. The damage is estimated to be at around $4 million.
