Free rides for labor Day weekend

It's a "no refusal" weekend this Labor Day and law enforcement agencies across Central Texas are cracking down on drunk drivers.

Austin police say in 2014, over the Labor Day weekend, there were 199 crashes in the area, 1 person died, and 8 people were seriously injured. But they aren't the only ones hoping to make the roads safer this weekend.

A couple of local lawyers who want to get that message across are offering free cab rides. Sutliff and Stout represent victims of drunk drivers, so they know first hand that lives can be changed in an instant.

"We've seen what it's done to their families and it's devastating, and what's even more devastating about it is it could have easily been prevented by someone not driving," said Graham Sutliff, one of the firms owners.

Anyone over 21 can be reimbursed up to $30 for their cab ride in the Austin area. It's the first year they are offering the incentive. It starts on Saturday at 7p.m. and ends Monday morning at 10 A.M.

There is no limit to the number of receipts they'll take but there are some guidelines:

-Only one reimbursement per household
-You can only take it one-way to a safe destination
-You must have a paypal account
-You have to submit your receipt with a valid driver's license

According to their website, receipts must be submitted by September 14, 2015 and should include the PayPal email address:

"We're going to commit to whoever gives us their entries in time, the cost I don't know," said Sutliff, adding, "but what I can say is that if it saves one life, it's worth it."
