Funds raised for heater replacement at Austin Pets Alive!

Austin Pets Alive! went to Facebook on Sunday after one of their heaters broke down during freezing temperatures.

APA! asked for donations and help to replace the heater and not even 24 hours later the Austin community came through.

Radiant Plumbing and Air Conditioning offered a discount for a unit and installation while the public gave donations. APA! is now getting a new unit.

“Austin is showing the rest of the country how to be a compassionate and safe city for pets, but it’s the people here that make this possible,” Executive Director Dr. Ellen Jefferson said in a statement.

She also brought attention to the difficult winter months for the organization.

“Even though we are extremely happy that we have raised the funds for the heater replacement, we want to take this opportunity to draw attention to the ongoing need to fund our everyday operational expenses which tend to go up during cold weather, due to increased animal intake, decreased availability of volunteers and higher utility costs.”
