Georgetown students expelled after campus incident with stolen gun

GEORGETOWN, Texas-- A 17-year-old East View High School athlete is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Jacob Guerrero is one of two students arrested at the Georgetown school on Tuesday after a group of students in the fieldhouse were taking selfies with a gun -- a black Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm.  Police say it was loaded but there wasn't a live round in the chamber.

Although it's not clear which of the students actually brought the gun, East View student Elisa Zuniga says she knows who.

"It's just kind of crazy that he would actually bring a gun to school and to think that...who in the world would do that honestly?" Zuniga said.
According to Williamson County paperwork obtained by FOX 7, on Tuesday morning, an East View staff member overheard the students in the locker room talking about the gun.
When officers arrived, one of the students, a minor, who tried to hide the weapon in a locker was arrested for having a weapon in a prohibited place.
Another student told the officer Jacob Guerrero pointed the gun at his head.  That's what led to Guerrero's assault charge.
The students were supposed to be at practice.  When questioned, Guerrero said he decided to take selfies because he quote "looked good today."  He also denied ever seeing or handling the handgun.
Elisa Zuniga's mother, Sandra, says more needs to be done in the district.
"I think they...need to up the security a little bit more," she said.
Georgetown ISD says there were six students in the group.  The two arrested students have been expelled and the others have been suspended until police finish investigating the extent of their involvement.
Georgetown Police have confirmed the gun was stolen from a Georgetown resident's car last week.  They're still trying to figure out how the students got it.
