Iconic BBQ restaurant changing names

Stubb's Bar-B-Q on Red River is making a big change.

They are changing their name to Liberty Lunch following a settlement with One World Foods, the maker of Stubb's Legendary Bar-B-Q sauces, rubs and marinades.

After 18 months of discussion One World Foods gained exclusive ownership and rights to the Stubb's brand. Meanwhile, the legendary restaurant and music venue will phase out the brand. One World Foods said this was a mutual settlement.

The name change was filed on July 5, 2017. Other Stubb's outposts will change their names to Liberty Lunch as well.

Longtime Austinites will remember the name, Liberty Lunch, as a legendary music venue on second street. It was shut down several years ago and later demolished.
