KPD officers arrest a wanted man after lengthy overnight pursuit

The Killeen Police Department has arrested a wanted man after a lengthy overnight pursuit.

On Wednesday, October 26, 2016, just before 1:30am, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for several traffic violations in the area of Old 440 and Jasper Rd.  The driver of the gray Chrysler Aspen refused to stop and sped away from the officer; a pursuit ensued.

The driver then fled onto Highway 190 westbound nearing speeds of 70 mph, he continued westbound entering Copperas Cove.  The driver went down several roadways attempting to elude the officers in Copperas Cove.

The vehicle then was able to return to Highway 190 eastbound.

The driver then drove off the south side of the roadway just before the Clarke Rd. exit running into a fence, which is on Fort Hood property.  The driver then fled from the vehicle on foot jumping over two fences, one which was a barbed wire fence, until he was caught by an officer.

The male was taken into custody and was treated by EMS at the scene for injuries he received going over the barbed wire fence; the suspect requested not to be transported to a medical facility.  The 35 year old male was transported to the Killeen City Jail and was served with several warrants from other agencies.

This case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office and complaints were returned charging Rogers Engleton Jr. with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle and Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Felon.  Engleton remains in the Killeen City Jail awaiting arraignment on the above charges.
