Latest Honor Flight Austin takes veterans to Washington, D.C.

A group of veterans from World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War are back in Texas after viisting our nation's capital for the latest Honor Flight Austin.

Family, friends and supporters welcomed the military heroes home at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport with patriotic signs and American flags on Saturday, September 23rd.

Vietnam veteran Michael Wright says he was overwhelmed with emotion when he saw how much appreciation he and other veterans received.

"It was unbelievable words can't describe it. It was worth serving my country for. Honor Flight of Austin made my bucket list come true. I've never had so many thank you's in all of my life," Wright says.

So far Honor Flight Austin has taken 45 trips and more than 2,000 veterans to D.C. to see the monuments built in honor of their service. The visits are free for the veterans and are paid for through donations.
