Greg Kelley will be in court today as Kelley's lawyer presents new evidence to prove Kelley's innocence. 22-year-old Kelley was convicted of assaulting a young boy at an in home daycare in 2014. Today is the start of a three day hearing in Williamson County.
Back in 2014, then 19-year-old Kelley was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Recently his case was given new life when Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick decided to reopen the case.
Dick's decision came after he received new evidence from Kelley's attorney, Keith Hampton, that wasn't heard during the first trial. That evidence will be brought before another judge, Judge Donna King, and Hampton hope it will help prove Kelley is not guilty.
The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
It's possible Kelley could be released on bond as early as Friday. The case will then go to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals for the final ruling.
