The legal process in the attempt to remove Williamson County DA Jana Duty from office has been put on hold.

A hearing was scheduled to decide if Judge John Dietz would issue a citation allowing a removal trial to be held.

District Attorney Duty did not attend the hearing.

Duty's attorneys argued the process should not go forward because the county attorney has not yet decided if he will lead the removal trial.

Judge Dietz agreed with that and reset the case for a hearing next week in order to give the county attorney time to make a decision.

A citizen's group filed a complaint last month claiming Duty should be removed from office because of misconduct and incompetence.

Earlier this year, Duty lost her re-election bid and she will officially leave office in January.
