Man arrested after leading police on high speed chase

A man is in custody after leading police on a high speed car chase. He's believed to have burglarized several cell phone stores as well. It happened early this morning in South Austin.

Austin police say they got a call about several cell phone store burglaries. After looking at surveillance video officers got an image of the suspect and his vehicle.

An APB was issued and soon an officer spotted the truck. When the officer ran the license plate it turned out the truck was reported stolen.

The officer tried to pull over the suspect and that’s when the chase began. The chases ended in the 2200 block of Guadalupe.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. It’s not clear how many cell phone stores were robbed or which ones but police did say several were hit.

More suspects could be arrested.

The one person in custody is being charged with burglary, evading arrest and possession of a stolen vehicle. HIs identity has not yet been released.
