Man arrested in connection murder of 19-year-old in Kyle

Police in Kyle have arrested a man in connection to the death of a man last night. 20-year-old Andrew Ruben Martinez has been charged with murder. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Jacob Lambert.

Officials say at around 10:45 p.m. on September 14, police responded to a call of possible gunshots in the Waterleaf neighborhood. Officers arrived to the 100 block of Myrtle Street and found Lambert outside with injuries.

San Marcos/Hays County EMS treated Lambert on the scene but he did not survive.

An autopsy has been ordered. The victim's name is not being released until police notify next of kin.

Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett says this appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the community at large.

Martinez was arrested after Kyle officers and Hays County Sheriff's deputies located and detained several people for questioning about the incident.

Officials say Martinez and Lambert did know each other and they had a history of feuding.
