Man charged for shooting and killing his wife

Austin police have arrested the suspect for Sunday's fatal shooting in South Austin and identified the victim.

Police arrested Michael Richard Volmer, 42, and charged him with First Degree Murder for shooting and killing his wife, Nicole Regina Volmer, 40. 

According to police, the incident happened around 12:30 Sunday morning at the couple's home on the 4500 block of Walton Heath Circle. 

APD said Michael and his wife had been arguing and at some point during the dispute, he grabbed a gun and shot her once. Nicole was taken to South Austin Hospital, where she later died.

Michael Volmer was taken to the the Travis County Jail and is being held on a $100,000 bond. 

Friends and family members have started a GoFundMe account for Nicole's children and some immediate needs.
