Man in custody after SWAT situation near Pickle Elementary

Police have a man in custody after a SWAT situation near Pickle Elementary School. The school was put on reverse lockdown due to a "shots fired" call at a nearby apartment complex.

The SWAT team and Austin police were called out to the 7600 block of Blessing Avenue just before 9 a.m. when a woman inside one of the apartment units called 9-1-1 for help.

APD says when officers arrived they heard shots coming from the apartment. Police were able to talk to the suspect and convinced him to surrender.

The two women in the apartment were treated by paramedics but were not hurt.

The incident happened a block away from Pickle. AISD says the school was placed on reverse lockdown during the situation which meant students could move inside the building but no one was allowed to go in or out.,
