The Travis County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man for trying to use a forged driver's license to apply for a Best Buy credit card. The man used driver's license information from two different people, including that of Oscar-nominated actress Keira Knightley.

On Wednesday, police responded to a fraud in progress call at the Best Buy store at 3201 S. I-35 in Round Rock. According to the store's loss prevention officer, a black male was trying to open a credit account using a Texas driver's license number belonging to a "Franklin Utarna" who was an Asian male.

Officers say they encountered the man as he was exiting the store and asked him to identify himself. According to police, he initially identified himself as "Franklin", the name that matched the driver's license number, then admitted his real name was Lakee Dashawn Gibbs.

Gibbs was placed in custody immediately for the fake driver's license and was read his Miranda warning.

In the affidavit, officers say they asked Gibbs if he knew the license he was using to open the account was fake, which he told police he did, stating that his intent was to open a Best Buy credit account under the fake name. Gibbs told them his plan was then to make purchases until the account was maxed out, at which point he would sell all of the items he bought.

When police scanned the QR code on the back of the fake driver's license presented by Gibbs, police say the information came from a Florida driver's license belonging to Keira Knightley.

Gibbs is charged with tampering with a government record, a state jail felony.
