Man who drowned in Comal River on Fourth of July has been identified

The New Braunfels Police Department has identified the man who drowned in the Comal River on the Fourth of July as 29-year-old Jorge Chapa Gonzalez from Baytown, Texas. 

According to NBPD, first responders were called out to the 300 block of South Gilbert Avenue after a group of river-goers discovered a male in the water who was not conscious or breathing. 

When officers arrived on scene, lifesaving measures were attempted but unsuccessful. 

Although no foul play is suspected, the man's death remains under investigation.
