Memorial Day BBQ brings veterans and family together

Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. On Saturday, a local organization that provides resources and services to veterans hosted its annual military Memorial Day barbeque in Georgetown

The non-profit Heroes Night Out fed over 4,000 veterans and their families.

The goal of the celebration was to bring veterans, families, and the community together to honor those who have fallen. Fifty vendors were out at Reunion Ranch providing information and resources to those who veterans who needed help.

Along with help, families and veterans enjoyed live music, swimming, free food and games.

Chad Williams a veteran and board member of Heroes Night Out said Memorial Day helps remind the community what the cost of freedom is and, that we still need to care for and appreciate our living veterans. "Memorial Day is to remember those who didn't make it home. It's a good day to say thank you to folks we have some heroes here who have had their lives severely altered in service to this country and it's a good day to come together and be a family," said Williams.

The event wrapped up at 4 p.m.
