AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) - Community leaders and the Greater Austin Crime Commission have planned a memorial to remember the victims of the 2018 Austin bombings. The memorial will be held at Austin City Hall on West 2nd Street at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 21.
Speakers include Mayor Steve Adler, City Manager Spencer Cronk, Police Chief Brian Manley and Pete Winstead, president of the Greater Austin Crime Commission.
A year ago, five package bombs exploded in or near Austin, killing two and injuring five.
A police officer was also injured when the suspect detonated a device on March 21, 2018.
The memorial will remember those killed and injured, and honor the hundreds of local, state and federal law enforcement personnel that took part in the investigation. More than 500 federal agencies assisted after a series of bombs terrorized the City of Austin.
