More than a thousand people rally at Capitol for Women's March

More than a thousand marched from City Hall to the State Capitol to celebrate the anniversary of The Women’s March nationally and the 45th anniversary of Roe V. Wade.

Women’s rights activists rallied on the front steps of the Capitol. The crowd cheered as former state senator Wendy Davis encouraged her supporters to keep on fighting. She touched on a variety of issues such as immigration reform, DACA and Black Lives Matter.

People held homemade signs with writings like, “You can’t comb over misogyny” and “I stand with Planned Parenthood.”

Women’s rights activist Denise Gordon was one of many women wearing pink hats she said the women before her fought for the right for women to vote she’s no fighting for women to have the choice to be either pro-choice or pro-life.

"This is our opportunity to march as women to demonstrate that we women can think for ourselves and can make our own choices and we don't need to have our Texas legislators nor do we need to have our president and those who are in power tell us how we are supposed to take care of our bodies," Gordon said.

Many speakers urged women to vote and hit the polls. They want more women in on office.

According to law enforcement on scene not as many people attended as last year.

The marches followed a Trump impeachment rally earlier in the day.
