Much needed rain on the way for Central Texas this week

Abundant moisture, an incoming cold front and a series of upper level disturbances will all play a part in the soggy week ahead, keeping rain chances going everyday between Monday and next Sunday. 

A few showers will be possible Monday, especially after sunset, as a disturbance moves from Mexico into Texas. 

Early Tuesday, the rain chances look best for parts of the Hill Country with showers and thunderstorms approaching from the west. 

Into the evening hours Tuesday, additional rain develops area-wide as moisture is pulled north from the Gulf of Mexico in advance of an approaching cold front. 

That cold front arrives Wednesday morning and spurs additional showers and storms. The commute Wednesday will likely be soggy and with lingering rain throughout the day, localized flash flooding could be a concern. 

Eventually, the cold front will stall out in South Texas, helping to keep showers going into Thursday and Friday as well. 

2018 has been very dry so far, with many places yet to see one inch of rain. The latest Drought Monitor also shows worsening drought conditions in Central Texas, especially in the Hill Country where severe drought conditions can be found.
