Non-profit ridsharing company 'Ride Austin' launching in June

When Uber and Lyft left town after the failure of Prop 1, Austin has seen companies like Fare, Wingz and Get Me pop up to fill that void. Well, how about a non-profit ridesharing company?

Today "Ride Austin" was announced.  Designed by local engineers, the new service is in the on-boarding process and a launch is expected in the downtown area sometime in June.

The app is available to download today in the App Store.  An Android version is coming soon.

The idea of the non-profit is to pay drivers more and riders will pay less...all while helping local charities.

FOX 7's Casey Claiborne will have the story today at 5.
