Northbound Mopac to be shut down nightly beginning Tuesday

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority announced Northbound Mopac will be shut down every night at 8 PM beginning on Tuesday.

Mopac will be closed from Lady Bird Lake to Enfield Road as well as the Cesar Chavez and 6th street ramp to Mopac. Traffic will be detoured off of the Enfield Road exit and then allowed back on Mopac. All lanes and ramps will reopen each morning around 5:30 A.M.

Crews will be installing new pavement so the road can be expanded to three northbound lanes between Lady Bird Lake and Enfield Road.

CTRMA said the original timeline for the closures were set for December 3rd and 4th but were moved ahead of schedule due to a threat of cold weather and rain. Crews plan to have the third northbound lane reopened prior to the start of the Trail of Lights, which is scheduled to open on December 10th.

Crews are warning that the closures will cause significant delays and are asking drivers to avoid Mopac if possible. For more information on the closures and the work being done, click here
