Oldest living U.S. veteran given a home makeover

The United States' oldest living veteran was just given a home makeover.

The home renovation was done by Central Texas Meals on Wheels and the Home Depot Foundation.

Volunteers went into Richard Overton's home in Austin and removed carpets and installed laminate floors. They also remodeled the bathroom and kitchen, widened doorways, replaced the electrical wiring, which was original to the house, and installed central air for the veteran.

Richard Overton has lived in his home since 1948.

The purpose of these upgrades was to make everyday living safer and easier for Mr. Overton.
