One person dead following wreck in Bastrop County

*UPDATE*

Bastrop County Sheriff's Office released the following statement on their Facebook page detailing the deadly wreck on SH 304.

Phillip John, Jr, age 23, of Cuero, Texas was arrest by Texas Highway Patrol today in connection with the fatal collision on SH 304 @ FM 2571 in Bastrop County. He has been charged with Intoxication Manslaughter and Intoxication Assault. The identities of the victims have not yet been released pending notification to the family.

Bastrop Police say only one child injured in crash allegedly caused by impaired driver. Original reports were that two children were injured. The child injured is in critical condition after being transported to Dell Children's Medical Center.

Two vehicles were involved in a collision on SH 304 at FM 2571 leaving one person dead.

The call to Bastrop Police came in around 1 p.m.

Bastrop police confirm that one adult person died on the scene.  A truck pulling a trailer struck another vehicle sending 2 small children to nearby hospital.

Police have closed roads in the area.  Expect extended lane closures as investigators work the scene.
