Parts of Fayette County under mandatory evacuation

The City of La Grange has issued a mandatory evacuation for home and businesses located between Water Street and below, to the Colorado River. The Fayette County Judge has also issued a mandatory evacuation for spots along the Colorado River outside the incorporated area of La Grange. 

"This is a life threatening event, and individuals in the path of the flood and are in imminent danger," the Fayette County Judge's Office said in statement. 

La Grange is in a major flood stage with their current river level at 52 feet as of Monday morning. That kicked in at 37 feet and the river is expected to rise to 54.5 feet, which is higher than the storm levels during historic storms in 1999 and 1991. 

La Grange has already seen as of Monday morning 21 to 23 inches of rain and could see 4 to 6 more inches before Harvey moves out of the area. 

Officials are calling people and going door-to-door to inform those impacted by the evacuation notice. They're asking residents to relocate with friends and relatives outside of the impacted area. 

There is a shelter in La Grange at the Second Baptist Church located at 1010 N Von Minden.
