Police arrest suspect in string of robberies

Austin police say they've arrested a serial robber after tracing his DNA from a cigar that fell out of his mouth during one of the incidents.

The DNA hit lead them to their suspect who was identified by one of the clerks he threatened to kill. 39-year-old Carlton Lewis is charged with several counts of aggravated robbery.

Police say he started robbing convenience stores in East Austin at the end of September and that over three weeks, he robbed seven stores.

Lewis is being held on a $150,000 bond in the Travis County Jail.

He is also wanted for a robbery in Bastrop County.
