More information continues to emerge about gunman Devin Kelley's past who opened fire on First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas Sunday killing 26 people.
Along with having an extensive history of violence including: domestic violence, animal cruelty charges and being discharged from the air force. Kelley was also involved in an alleged sexual assault investigation, according to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have released information regarding the alleged sexual assault that happened four years ago.
In a statement released by the Comal County Sheriff’s Office, Kelley was involved in the alleged sexual assault case in 2013. It was eventually stalled in October 2013 for unknown reasons.
The full statement from Comal County said the following:
Upon hearing about the tragic events that occurred on Sunday, November 5th, 2017 in Sutherland Springs, Texas, the Comal County Sheriff's Office immediately began to research any contact the suspect had with the Comal County Sheriff's Office. The suspect was discovered to have been involved in an alleged Sexual Assault that occurred in Comal County in 2013. The alleged sexual assault investigation stalled sometime in October 2013 for reasons yet to be determined. Additionally, a call for service was located for a disturbance in February 2014 at the suspect's residence. This call resulted in no offense report being generated.
Until a final determination is received by the District Attorney's Office on the release of full reports regarding these calls, the Comal County Sheriff's Office will have no additional information to provide.
