Police investigate officer involved shooting in SW Austin

Police are investigating an officer involved shooting in southwest Austin. It happened in the 6200 block of La Naranja Lane. It's the third officer involved shooting in less than a month.

Interim Austin Police Chief Brian Manley says the call initially came in around 12:30 a.m.

The caller was a mother reporting that her son was threatening his dad with a gun inside their home. She also she he had additional ammo around his neck.

Manley says officers responded pretty quickly. They were on scene about 10 minutes after the call was received and waited outside for backup. It was during that time when they heard multiple shots fired inside of the home.

The suspect was taken to the hospital and treated and released and is now in custody. He is described only as a 23-year-old Hispanic man.

The suspect was the only person injured in the shooting.

Two officers have been placed on administrative leave.
