Preparations underway for ACL 2016 Music Festival

It's that time of year when hundreds of thousands of people will be in Zilker Park for the Austin City Limit’s Music Festival. It's that time of year when hundreds of thousands of people will be in Zilker Park for the Austin City Limit’s Music Festival.

Many people over the weekend were out at Zilker taking in a few moments of calm before the ACL Storm. Wes Crochet was one of them. “Enjoying the weather, enjoying the sunshine, we know ACL is coming  up so it's kind of one of the last few times we can get out to the park and enjoy it before it gets too crazy out here,” he said.

We are still a few weeks away, but part of Zilker Park will be closed off Monday until the festival is over. This as the transformation of the park is already underway for the festival.  “It started as early as last week or so we started seeing a lot of the equipment kind of getting ready to be brought to the fields over here,” Crochet said.

Over the weekend, tents started popping up and trucks were rolling in. Crews are preparing for the more than 100 musical acts taking to eight stages for the big two weekend event.

Ashok Tamby has never been to ACL, and is hoping to go for the first time. ”I want to get a ticket pretty soon, but I want to go weekend one,” he said. Unfortunately for him weekend one passes are sold out. But there are still tickets available for the one day passes on Sunday for both weekends.

For those wanting to enjoy Zilker Park as a park, you better hurry ACL kicks off September 30th. “This whole place just gets built up and there are stages everywhere, fences all around the boundary, people everywhere, but it's a lot of fun, it's great, it's a fun atmosphere to be out in,” Crochet said.
