According to the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, Manjula Bandarupalli, 47, was arrested for allegedly shaking a one-year old boy she was babysitting.
The victim suffered a severe head injury which required emergency surgery to remove part of the skull to relieve pressure on the brain.
The WILCO Sheriff's Office said Bandarupalli told them the child fell while playing with other children while she was in the kitchen preparing lunch on February 3. The victim was taken to Dell Children's Hospital where doctors discovered the child had suffered a severe bilateral brain bleed and hemorrhages in both eyes, injuries that doctors said are not consistent with injuries from a fall.
According to the Sheriff's Office, while being interviewed, Bandarupalli said she was playing rough with the victim and had shaken the child. Bandarupalli said she had shaken the child every time she watched him but shook him too hard this time.
Bandarupalli has been charged with Injury to a Child with Serious Bodily Injury. Her bond was set at $100,000.
