Round Rock police investigating attempted child abduction
Police in Round Rock are investigating an attempted child abduction of a fifth grader near Old Town Elementary School at 2200 Chaparral Drive just before 8 A.M.
The child said he was approached by several males on Grove Drive, a mile from the school, in a newer model silver colored four door truck. The males told the student to get into the truck but the child didn't comply.
Police say the child continued to school on his bicycle and informed a teacher of what happened. The males were described as white and between 20 and 30 years of age.

Old Town Elementary School Principal Leah Lonnotti sent a note to parents. It is as follows:
Dear Old Town Elementary School Parents and Guardians:
An Old Town Elementary School student reported being approached and told by unknown individuals, males aged 20 to 30, to get in a newer model silver four door truck on Tuesday before school. The student safely avoided the situation and reported it to administration, who then immediately reported it to the Round Rock Police Department.
The Round Rock Police Department is aware of the incident, and is taking appropriate measures to find the individuals involved. RRPD will also be increasing visibility in the neighborhood before, during, and after school with both marked and unmarked cars.
It is always a good idea for students to be focused on their surroundings and personal safety. We would like to take this opportunity to ask our parents to speak with their students and encourage them to take the necessary precautions to stay safe:
* Always walk or bike with other students.
* Be alert to what is happening and who is around you.
* Never talk to a stranger or go near a stranger’s car.
* Never accept rides from a stranger.
* If a stranger approaches you, scream and run. Find an adult you know and report what happened immediately.
