Missing child in San Marcos found safe

UPDATE: Kara Ryan has been found safe and returned to her family.


San Marcos police are searching for a missing 14-year-old girl who has been missing since Friday morning. 

Police say Kara Ryan was last seen on Dec. 8 around 11:06 a.m. leaving her home in the 200 block of Horseshoe Bend without permission. Kara's parents called police on Dec. 9 seeking help and reported her as a run away. 

Kara was last seen in a gray jacket, black converse shoes and carrying a peach colored backpack with gray polka dots. Police describe her as weighing about 120 pounds, being 5'5'' tall and having a short blonde bob hair cut. Kara has greenish-gray eyes. 

Police say Kara was reported to have made suicidal comments to her sister prior to her disappearance. Friends told police they haven't heard form her or seen her.
