ROUND ROCK, Texas - A Round Rock man is begging the person responsible for killing his son to come forward.
David Rogers believes his 23-year-old son Jonathan David Rogers was the victim of a random shooting. So far, police have not made an arrest in the case.
Since the night of August 24, life hasn't been the same for Rogers’ family.
“Jonathan was, he was awesome,” said David Rogers, Jonathan’s father.
The young man had just returned to his grandmother's home on Mearns Meadow Boulevard after playing top golf with friends. It was about 10:20 p.m. and Jonathan was still outside when the unthinkable happened.
“I believe that he was just a victim of a random shooting,” David said.
Jonathan's family said there is not a single person they know of who would want to harm him.
“Everybody loved him. You talked to anybody and they all just said, ‘Jonathan was awesome. Jonathan was a great guy.’ Jonathan, he had no enemies, he could make friends with anybody,” said David.
Austin police are leading the investigation. Crime stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect. Finding out who is responsible is worth much more than that to Jonathan’s family.
“If they know anything, just call the police department, let them know, because I want closure and I want somebody to help my family find that closure,” David said.
As for the person who pulled the trigger, Jonathan’s father hopes he or she turns themself in.
“If you are a man, then come forward, man up, because you took my son, let me know why you did that,” said David.
Austin police are asking anyone with surveillance video from that area on August 24 to please share that with them.
