Suspect arrested for fatal hit-and-run in San Marcos

The San Marcos Police Department has arrested a suspect for a fatal hit-and-run.

30-year-old Uriah Keith Robinson has been charged with multiple felonies.

According to police, first responders were called around 7 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2018 to the intersection of Riverside and the west I-35 access for an auto-pedestrian accident. When they arrived on scene, they discovered a deceased male who was identified as 48-year-old Tyrus Dennis Piano from Kyle.

Witnesses told police officers on scene that a 1998 Toyota van had jumped the curb and struck the pedestrian, who had been walking on the sidewalk. A passenger in the van fled on foot from the accident scene and was taken into custody nearby by officers from Texas State University Police.

He was helped out of the vehicle and held at the scene by witnesses.

Robinson was taken to Central Texas Medical Center where officers took a blood sample pursuant to a blood search warrant. He was booked into the Hays County Jail and charged with offenses including:
