The Austin Police Department says one of its officers has been shot while working a SWAT situation in the 800 block of Morrow.

At a press conference (watch here), Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo says the officer was shot in the knee. The officer was taken to the hospital and is reportedly in stable condition. The officer has been with APD for seven years.

Chief Acevedo says the officer that was shot did not fire at the suspect, another officer did. The officer that did shoot at the suspect has been with the department for eight years.

The suspect is an 18-year-old and Acevedo says the suspect was armed with a long rifle. The suspect was wanted for trafficking drugs and police reportedly found evidence inside the home.
