Teen dies in rollover wreck

A San Marcos High School student died Sunday after being ejected from an SUV involved in a rollover wreck.

The driver, a 16-year-old boy and his two 15-year-old passengers were driving along Highway 35 in a 1996 Ford Explorer when the driver lost control of the car and hit a center barrier near 206 southbound and rolled several times said authorities.

The driver and the girl sitting in the front seat were not seriously injured, but the girl in the backseat was ejected from the car and killed, officials said.

This is the seventh collision the San Marcos Police Department Collision Investigation Team has investigated this year and the fifth highway fatality in the City this year.

A spokesperson for San Marcos High School said counselors will be available to help students cope with the incident.
