Texas Capitol evacuated due to reported smoke

The Texas Capitol was evacuated for a short time today due to reports of smoke.

The Austin Fire Department posted on social media at around 1 p.m. that units were on scene because of light smoke haze in lower extension and that crews were searching for the source.

About half an hour later, AFD said that lower extension smoke odor had dissipated and that no fire was found.

10 minutes later at around 1:45 p.m. officials said that nothing was found in lower extension and that all units were being cleared.

Officials say they are still investigating what happened.
